James Dean: Sense Memories (Widescreen)

James Dean: Sense Memories (Widescreen)
"Keep it up," director Elia Kazan privately told James Dean after co-star Raymond Massey complained about the newcomer's acting style. The kid knew how bring heat to a scene, how to get under people's skin. That story and others shape this sharply focused American Masters look at the meteoric, star-making last year of Dean's life. One year. Three films ("East Of Eden," "Rebel Without A Cause," "Giant"). Unending impact. Via film clips, behind-the-scenes footage, archival photos, and on-camera interviews with colleagues (including Mark Rydell, Martin Landau, Eartha Kitt, Lois Smith, Dennis Stock and Corey Allen) who shared that year with him, "James Dean: Sense Memories" reveals the man, the movies and his timeless mystique. After 50 years, the kid who is the archetypal rebel for every generation still brings heat. Watch. And discover why.

Stock footage - Stock footage, also termed archive footage, library pictures and file footage is film or video footage either in the public domain or available for a set fee that can thus be put into any other film. Stock footage is of great use to filmmakers as it is generally far cheaper than actually filming a needed scene.

Actuality film - The actuality film is a non-fiction film genre that like the documentary film uses footage of real events, places, and things, yet unlike the documentary is not structured into a larger argument, picture of the phenomenon or coherent whole. In practice, actuality films preceded the emergence of the documentary.

Footage - In film and video, footage is the raw, unedited material as it has been recorded by the camera, which usually must be edited to create a motion picture, video clip, television show or similar completed work. More loosely, footage can also refer to all sequences used in film and video editing, such as special effects and archive material (for special cases of this, see stock footage and B roll).

Pseudo documentary - A pseudo documentary is a film genre which uses documentary style, location shooting and actuality film footage in the context of fictional narrative filmmaking. Most notably, it was associated with a briefly popular cycle of films that Hollywood put out in the late 1940s, especially those produced by Louis de Rochemont and directed by Henry Hathaway.
